Workflow
Workflow is a term used to describe the orchestrated movement of work between two or more people. Optimized workflow is the automated, coordinated and synergistic streaming of work between individuals, workgroups, departments, divisions, agencies, suppliers, and customers.
By establishing and tracking conditions in a database, workflow engines operate according to prescribed business rules to trigger notifications to people that work is ready for their attention. When a user acknowledges workflow notifications, they are presented with software screens displaying data, as well as requests for the specific work to be done, such as approving a price quote or reviewing a contract.
