COLD / ERM
COLD and ERM are industry technical terms that, in simple works, stand for computer report management. It represents a category of software that operates on a server PC and appears to host systems as a mainframe or host printer. It is used for enterprise data processing systems to archive high-volume print runs of anything from accounting reports to invoices, transcripts, bank account statements, bills, and so on.
The ERM server operates by capturing the print stream that a host application, such as a CRM or ERP program, would send to a network printer. The ERM server has the intelligence to read the print stream and render an on-screen rendition of the printed document as it would appear on paper.
Not only does the ERM solution render the printed document, but it has the ability to read the content of the documents in the print stream and use that to index them into a document catalog for user retrieval.
It can capture simple ASCII print streams and merge them on preprinted business forms such as an invoice form. It can also capture advanced print streams for IBM-AFP, Xerox Metacode and Hewlett Packard PCL printers to render super high quality variable print documents on-line. Lastly, ERM can capture Adobe-PDF files and store them on-line for retrieval.
NMS Imaging provides the expertise to setup and read print stream applications from the simple to the highly complex. We enable ERM customers to mix internally generated documents together with image documents and other forms of content such as photos, computer files, and audio/video files for a complete record.
Lastly, NMS Imaging specializes in combining ERM technology into our smart portal solutions to expedite the work of people that parallels the internal workflows of data processing solutions such as ERP, CRM, Accounting and so on.
